About

I graduated from De Montfort University in 2008 (BA Hons Media and Film Studies), and was subsequently awarded the Peter Orton Scholarship to undertake an MA in Film Studies by Independent Study (Distinction). My MA research focused on American remakes of cult Japanese horror films.

I am now a PhD student based in the Cinema and Television History (CATH) research centre at DMU, and my research is funded by an AHRC Studentship Competition 2010 award. My thesis uses recent examples from contemporary American and British horror cinema to explore the process of remaking as a mode of adaptation. The study will consider the motives for remaking films, and aims to analyse the ways in which texts are adapted for and appropriated by new audiences.

In addition to horror cinema, film remakes and adaptation, my wider research interests include contemporary American cinema, cult film and fandom.
